In my eyes, Utricularia juncea is the most beautifull Utricularia one can find in Fr.Guyana. |

Of course this is a personal opinion, but truly, it's a special experience in itself |
to find this plant blooming in Nature : they are rather tall, about 40 to 50cm in some biotopes, |
and they shine with an intense yellow and with a kind of glowing from inside if it's a sunny day : |

These plants need open space to grow. |

In savanas it's not a problem, but in forests, they will grow only in such places : |
the place has to be wet all year, like the sides of a littles stream, |
and must be sunny to fit the plant's needs. |

U.juncea grow in the most wet parts of the biotope : |
here they grow directly in the middle of the stream, wich is very slow indeed. |

The substrate is made of laterite, wich is very muddy in these kind of places . |
This ground layer is covered with a thin layer of brown algae. |
Over these, a layer of water of 5cm, wich stream slowly over the plants. |

The flowers are easy to recognize : the lower lip is covered with an impressive bulb, |
wich make the corolla appear pretty big in size and give it it's particular aspect : |

The inflorescence is rather thick, to widstand the winds, and the stream of the water. |

Most of the plants wich live in relatively fresh biotopes, like forest biotopes, |
appear to have 3 or 5 flowers open at the same time, |
while plants from the warmer savanas have 1 to 3 flowers open simultaneously only. |

This plant love to grow together with big, tall grasses. |
>>>>>> ESPACE - GRIS FONCE <<<<<< |
I never found them in seeds, but as for so many plants, at that stage of their live, |
the seedpods are supported by the dry debries of a rotting plant, |
and the seeds have been dispersed since a long time. |
