Holozonia is a monotypic rhizomatous perennial genus occurring from Shasta County to Mariposa County and from Napa County to Monterey County. Plants 3-15 dm tall. Heads radiate; phyllaries long-white-hairy, each enfolding a ray ovary; chaff scales in a single connate series between the ray and disk flowers; ray florets 6-10, pistillate, corollas white, purplish below; disk florets 9-28, functionally staminate, the corollas white, hairy, the anthers purple, the pappus of 0-5 caducous bristles; cypselae (ray) obcompressed, epappose. The chromosome number is n = 14.
