‘Fantastic Four’ Actor Toby Kebbell in Talks to Join ‘A Monster Calls’
“Fantastic Four” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” actor Toby Kebbell is in negotiations to join Felicity Jones and Liam Neeson in the adaptation of Patrick Ness’ fantasy novel “A Monster Calls.”
The Focus Features, River Road Entertainment, Participant Media and Lionsgate International production also stars Sigourney Weaver with Juan Antonio Bayona directing.
Focus will distribute domestically while Lionsgate International handles overseas sales. The pic will be shopped at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival.
Executive producers are River Road’s Bill Pohlad and Mitch Horwits, Participant’s Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King and Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairman Patrick Wachsberger.
The story follows a boy who seeks the help of a tree monster to cope with his single mom’s terminal illness. The pic will bow on Oct. 14, 2016.
After showing strong supporting roles in films like “The East,” “War Horse” and “The Counselor,” Kebbell is looked at as someone who should pop in the coming months.
He recently wrapped production on Legendary’s “Warcraft” as well as Fox’s “Fantastic Four” where he plays super-villain Doctor Doom. Though unrecognizable, Kebbell also gave his talents as the rebellious Koba in Fox’s “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.”
He is repped by CAA and Independent Talent Group.
