Additional views of what may be Nevada arnica as seen in cracks on a rock outcrop along the summit ridge of Lookout Mountain, northern edge of the Badger Creek Wilderness...........June 21, 2014. On viewing this, my first impression was Arnica diversifolia, but the involucres may be a bit too narrow. Arnica cordifolia is also in the area, although in the forest, and the spreading white hairs on the involucre might support this. Without having looked at the developing pappus inside the flower, I went with Arnica nevadensis based on habitat and the general look of it, though I don't believe it has been documented this far north.
