Sanyo/Fisher Boombox/Portable Ads and maybe some Craig?

I like em. I have a boatload of three + piecers, yes in the old days they were not thought of highly but just look at the Sony FH Series, the Marantz's and a few others, the build quality is excellent and sometimes you need to unhook the speakers because they weigh so much.

 

I rarely saw big boxes, mostly at events where they didn't splurge on a real sound system.

Found another gem from 1977, I've got the M 9980 but mine is different! First off mine is only AM/FM, multi band is so much nicer. I have three buttons on the left top, this has four and maybe a toggle to the right? These would be for band selection. Instead of two R+L volume sliders, mine had a dual rotary dial. Check out the antenna, it's the awesome model that slide fully into the body when not in use. I really like the 70's boomboxes, the build quality is amazing and the design stands the test of time. Inputs on the back include RCA outs, 1/4" jack speaker outs, dual mic in and AUX in, anything you could need.

Here's a classic from 1965, The Fisher 50 Portable Turntable, like some other brands, Fisher popped in a Garrard Turntable into a suitcase. James Bond would love it.

 

These portable turntables were really the boombox's granddad, some of them are really nice and the cheap ones make up for it with flashy colors and awesome design. I thought I'd mix up the thread a little bit, we won't be seeing much old Fisher on this forum otherwise.

 

Those bottom models are so nice, we're finally seeing similar players show up for sale, 10 years ago they didn't leave the basement. Are you sure they're from 1970? They look more refined from about 76?
