Bamboo For You

This Thyrsostachys siamensis has been in the ground for one growing season. Thyrsostachys siamensis (Monastery Bamboo)

A graceful bamboo used extensively around monasteries in Thailand.  It is a tight clumper with gracefully drooping canes, which can bend so far they reach the ground.  The variety that we carry is the one with the extreme drooping form, as you can see in the photo.  This variety is very rare and will create a huge bamboo shrub.  The children love it, as the dome shaped shrub becomes like a private fortress inside the arching canes.

Max. height: 40 '     Max. diameter: 3 "     Minimum Temperature: 25o F.
