CORTINARIUS caperatus, The 'Gypsy Mushroom' has an ochre-pale tan cap with whitish fibrils and stem. Whitish stipe and ring. Found with conifers and beech. Fruits from August to October. Edible and choice, though often filled with insect larvae. The species name "caperatus" is a reference to its somewhat wrinkly cap.
