  Description: Perennials. Culms 45-160 cm long, erect or trailing; nodes bearded. Leaves 4-17 x 0.4-1 cm, linear-lanceolate, base rounded, apex acuminate, scaberulous; sheaths to 14 cm long; ligules membranous. Panicles 5-12 cm long, lax; branches to 5 cm long. Spikelets 4-5 mm long, oblong, compressed, 1-flowered, cream-yellow. Glumes reduced to a rim. Lemma 4-5 x 1.5-2 mm, oblong, coriaceous, 5-nerved, laterally compressed, keeled, scabrid along the nerves. Palea 2-3 x 1 mm, linear-oblong, coriaceous, 3-nerved, ciliate along the keels. Stamens 6; anthers c. 2 mm long, yellow. Ovary elliptic; stigmas cream-coloured.
