Found in Zaire, Angola, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe in woodlands, rocky hillsides and dry dambos at elevations of 900 to 1500 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with a partly subterranean, conical, chain-forming tuberous growth giving rise to3 to 5, linear, grass-like leaves that are partially developed at blooming occuring in the spring on 1 to 2, erect, laxly 2 to 5 flowered inflorescence with an ovate bract in the basal half.
