Common Name The Pointed Malaxis

Flower Size 3/8" [1 cm]

Found in Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru at elevations of 1090 to 3600 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial or occasional epiphyte with a bulbous-thickened, base stem enveloped below by 3 to 3, tubular, imbricating sheaths and carrying 1 to 2, subopposite to distinctly separated, ovate-oblong, oval, to ovate-lanceolate, obtuse to acuminate, lightly cordate to cuneate basally leaves that blooms in the later summer on a terminal, erect, sub-umbellate, 4" [10 cm] long, many flowered racemose inflorescence.
