Common Name The Rio Toachi Pleurothallis

Flower Size .2" [5 mm]

Found in Pichincha province of Ecuador at elevations around 1200 meters as a small sized, cool growing, supposed caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, acute, cuneate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an erect to reclining, arising through a spathe at the base of the leaf, 1.6 to 2" [4 to 5 cm] long including the stout .4 to .6" [1 to 1.5 cm] long peduncle, simultaneously 5 to 7 flowered inflorescence with shorter than the ovary floral bracts.

"Related to P quadriserrata but distinguished by the petals that are rounded apically, not acute and the crested lateral veins are thickened and medial, instead of thin and just within the margins. In additon the flowers are not striped, the dorsal sepal is narrowly obovate and obtuse instead of narrowly triangular and acute and the lamellae of the lip are absent in P quadriserrata." Luer 2004
