As part of its aim to regenerate Alfreton town, councillors have agreed, in principle, to support community organisations and community members with the development of a ‘community hub’ in the town centre.

A community hub is a space for any groups to use that will directly benefit the users and people of Alfreton. Ideas for the range of activity at the hub are welcomed- already in consideration is:

  • Somewhere to meet, sit and talk, sing, dance, exercise.
  • A learning area from homework, health, support for long term conditions.
  • A food bank.
  • Appointment space for community services such as Citizens Advice Bureau & Age UK advice.
  • Wifi access points.
  • Youth craft activity.

Lead Member for regeneration, cllr David Taylor said:

“The members of Alfreton Town Council are enthusiastic and committed to regenerating the Town. This is one of many projects highlighted that will involve the community in making Alfreton a better place to live, work and visit”

To be part of the progress of a Community Hub, please forward your expression of interest in this development in two ways:

Contact lynn@avcvs.org with an expression of interest and outline a business plan that indicates income and expenditure that would be the foundation of a sustainable community hub.

Email office@alfretontc.co.uk explaining what you would use in a town centre hub and how you would like to be kept informed of progress. Explain what Alfreton needs, wants and is missing.
