Basionym Peziza setosa Nees, Syst. Pilze Schwäm.: 260 (1817).

Diagnosis 13) Borstiger Becherschwamm. Peziza setosa mihi. Peziza stercorea Pers. S. F. 650.? Schalenförmig, vertiest, pomeranzengelb, Außenfläche mit langen, steifen, aufrechten, braunen Borsten beseßt. ½–2 Linien Durchmesser. Im Herbste auf faulen Stämmen, gesellig. — Fig. 275.

1) Le Gal (1966) designated the collection of Fuckel, Fungi Rhenani no. 1340, as type. The latter must be considered as an epitype.
2) This species has been often signaled under the erroneous name S. erinaceus.
