BB16 AC Hill

Jimmy Hill

  • Title
    Bench & Bullpen Coach
Hill joined the Whitman staff for the 2014-15 season. He will serve as the program's bench and bullpen coach.

The pitching coach of the Under-19 Walla Walla Bears for the past five seasons, Hill has helped send nearly 40 players off to all levels of collegiate baseball, building a consistent winning culture in Walla Walla. The Bears have won at least 25 games each of the past five seasons.

Like Kitamura, an alumnus of Whitman, Hill's familiarity with the school continues to be an asset to the program as does his more than 16 years of coaching experience.

A standout duel-sport athlete at, first, Yakima Valley Community College then at Whitman, Hill was a starting pitcher for the Missionaries and still ranks within the top ten of several categories in the Whitman record book.

When not in the dugout during baseball season Hill spends the winter on the sidelines of the basketball court as the head men's basketball coach at Walla Walla University. He also teaches math at Walla Walla High School and resides in Walla Walla with wife Julie whom he married in July 2015.

Kitamura notes that the program is "extremely fortunate to have Jimmy on its coaching staff. His knowledge of the game, coaching experience at every college level and his understanding of Whitman helps our program tremendously."

"Jimmy's teaching mentality shines on the field and will help with the young group we have right now. His emphasis on fundamentals and situational execution will be vital in helping our players play to their highest abilities and thrive under pressure."
