Peter Jonas Bergius, (1730-1790) was one of Stockholm's most employed doctors in his time. He was also a prominent botanist and writer. In memory of Bergius, Carl von Linné has named a plant genus Bergia and a small flower of the Ericine family Erica Bergiana also bears his name. The apple variety PJ Bergius is also named after Bergius.
