Botany. Acharius, Erik, Swedish naturalist, (1757-1819). Lichenographiae svecicae prodromus. D. G. Björn, Lincopiae, 1798. 8vo in a later cloth binding with gilt spine text on green label. Illustrated with a hand-colored engraved title vignette and 2 hand-colored engraved plates.(VI), XXIV, 264 p. + two hand-colored engraved plates with protective paper.
Bibliographic ref. Hook, Bibliotheca botanica suecana, 8. The illustrations are engraved by Akrel. Erik Acharius was one of Linnaeus' last disciples. He summarizes his studies of the Swedish lichens here. A total of 345 species are described, of which 24 were previously unknown to science.
With Birger Strandell's exlibris. Provenance. Leif Gothildius, Knislinge, (1939-2018).
