Later (mid 20th century) leather strap with gold ornate back with red title label. Consistently rather mottled, several of the planches sunny. Ugly mending s. 109/110. Signatures and black stamps on the title leaves.
All that came out. With Reply to the review of Svenska lafvarnes farghhistoria in the Economic Annals for December 1807 (after p. 293), Supplement with Reply to remarks (after p. 338), records and corrections.
Johan Peter Westring (1753-1833), as a lichen researcher, was self-taught, but had an education in chemistry. As a practical researcher, he drew a lot of criticism from among others. and Berzelius. His History of Color nevertheless appears to be the most outstanding work in his field, not least thanks to the beautiful planks, engraved after drawings by, among others. other Acharius and Palmstruch.
