This member of the Euphorbiaceae
family
was given this name by Nicholas Edward Brown in 1911. It is found in a small
area in south-eastern Kenya and north-eastern Tanzania, growing in a well drained
sandy soil with
some water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow to six centimetres in diameter, the entire plant
to fifteen centimetres in height. The flowers are pinkish-brown.
The genera is named after
Euphorbos, the Greek physician of King Juba II of Numidia. The
species name from Latin: furca, referring to the forks of the
branches. |
