Miyota 2105 VS 2115
There is also a similar caliber 2115, with the main difference being that the 2105 shown here has a day-date, the 2115 only has a date. There is also a high hand verion (caliber 2117) for watches with deep dish dials and thick cases.
2105 Accuracy
Miyota states the accuracy of this movement to be +/-20 seconds/month.
Battery Cell
The caliber 2105 takes an SR626SW watch battery. The battery is said to last up to 3 years. There is a battery saving (aka hacking) mode by pulling out the stem into time setting mode (position II). When doing this, the seconds hand will stop and the power consumption will be limited.
Changing the Battery
Below is a quick guide to performing a DIY battery change on your 2105 powered watch. It’s easy enough. If it is your first time changing a battery on a Miyota quartz movement, just take your time. The arm with the hole in it is what holds the battery in. It moves slightly to release the battery. When installed a new cell, hold the arm out of the way and simply wedge the new battery under the tab on the left, press down on the battery and bring the arm back over. The arm has a spring-like resistance and should return to place on its own, as long as the battery is in place and not blocking it. Try not to slip the tool and scratch the coil.
With this battery removed, it looks like this:
Replacement Price
At the time of this post the replacement price is around $10.95.
