Grand Marquoir (part 2 in progress)

Sunday post to show off photos of the two versions of the Isabelle Vautier “Grand Marquoir” that are being stitched in this house.  Lindashee, my 15 year old daughter, has begun work on her 7th square in this second part  gmmarronapril19

while I have been stitching furiously this afternoon to keep up and have just finished my 6th square.  gmvertapril19

For those of you with good eyesight, you’ll notice the metallic thread on each letter is missing – that’s because I’ll be adding the dreaded metallic thread once we’ve completed the 9 squares of this second part.

  1. Lovely stitching, both of you!! You’re both well ahead of me on this SAL, I’m just starting the block in between E and F.

  2. Hi Claire,

    I just have to ask…

What fabric and colours of floss are you both using for your Grand Marquoir? Also, what have you used for your Lettres? I love the browns and the greens.

    • Hello Felicity
      Thanks for stopping by !
My daughter and I aren’t using anything fancy just aida and DMC threads for this project ^^
I am stitching on 18 count antique white, using DMC 991 and metallic gold threads and my daughter is stitching on a cream 14 count using DMC 839 and gold metallic.
Are you doing the GM too?
I’m going to come and have a peak at your blog ^^

    • oh and for “Lettres” I’m stitching on a marbled green effect linen (bought on ebay so I don’t remember the brand) using DMC 367 for the cats and Pomme de Pin “Forêt Enchantée” for the letters
