Plante découverte dans la région de Brunei Darussalam à Bornéo, le 20 mars 1993 par Mark James Elgar Coode (1937- ) et une équipe de botanistes composée de I. K. Fergusson, Hussain Bin Hj, Suhaili Bin Hj, Jangarun Eri, Han Sing et Ramlee Luang, dans le district de Belait, Labi, près de Sungai Rampayoh, à environs 5 kilomètres en amont de la route, sur une souche d’arbre en décomposition.

Le nom de la sous-espèce a été mentionnés en 1997 dans A Checklist of the Flowering Plants & Gymnosperms of Brunei Darussalam App. 2, page 433.
Cette espèce appartient à la section Petermannia.

Tiges 45cm de long, rouge au début, feuilles rougeâtres dessous, fleurs blanc rosé, jeune fruit blanc au début. Trouvé dans une forêt riveraine dégradée ou le grès s’érode facilement en sol sableux.

Stems 45cm long, red at first, reddish leaves underneath, pinkish white flowers, young white fruit at first. Found in degraded riparian forest where sandstone is easily eroded in sandy soil.
