La plante a été collectée le 20 novembre 2008 dans le village de Tam Lai, commune de Huu Lien, district de Huu Lung, Province de Lang Son.
Lạng Sơn une province du nord du Vietnam, limitrophe de la province du Guangxi, en Chine. Sa capitale s’appelle également Lạng Sơn, une ville d’importance stratégique située à la frontière avec la Chine, à 137 km au nord-est de Hanoi et reliée par rail et par route. La province de Lạng Sơn est délimitée au nord par la Chine, la province de Cao Bằng au nord-ouest, la province de Ha Bac au sud, la province de Quảng Ninh commençant au sud et s’étendant jusqu’à la frontière orientale et la province de Thái Nguyên à l’ouest. L’arbre cultivé le plus important dans la province est l’anis étoilé (Illicium verum, Hooker), une épice importante. C’est un arbre à feuilles persistantes aromatiques lancéolées.
L’espèce a été dénommée et décrite par Ching-I Peng (1950 – 2018), Che-Wei Lin, Hsun-An Yang, Yoshiko Kono et Hieu Quang Nguyen le 2 mai 2015 dans Botanical Studies volume 56, numéro 9, dans les pages 10 à 12 d’un article ayant pour titre Six new species of Begonia (Begoniaceae) from limestone areas in Northern Vietnam.
L’épithète spécifique fait référence à la province où a été découverte la plante.
L’espèce a été classée dans la section Coleocentrum.
Herbe a rhizome rampant de 10 centimètres ou plus, stipules à feuilles caduques, largement ovales triangulaires, pétioles vert brunâtre, feuilles alternes, symétriques, glabres, ovales obliquement aux bords dentelés, vert émeraude. Inflorescences axillaires provenant directement du rhizome, fleurs roses.
Multiplication par boutures de feuilles pétiolées.
