Description

The Karmann Ghia (Type 14) combined the chassis and mechanicals of the Type 1 (Beetle) with styling by Luigi Segre of the Italian carrozzeria Ghia and hand-built bodywork by the German coach-builder Karmann. It was available from 1955-74 as a Coupe or from 1957, a convertible. This was the Type 14. The facelift in 1961 saw the headlights raised higher, wider and finned front grilles and larger taillights, in 1970, the taillight size was increased again. Also in 1961, the type 34 variant was introduced, based on the new Type 3, with a more angular shape
