A small shrub with thin reddish branches. The groups of flowers are a mix of reds, oranges and yellows. The fruits are small shiny black berries.

Distribution

Distribution: Species present on Isabela Island (on Alcedo and Sierra Negra volcanoes), Santa Cruz and Santiago. Records are scattered except on Santa Cruz where it is locally common. Its abundance has decreased on the four islands, on Santiago Island and Alcedo Volcano due to the presence of feral herbivores. It is recovering on Santiago, but its continued recovery on Santiago and Alcedo depends on the success of goat eradication.
