Slender annual trailing with rooting at lower nodes, leaves small and sessile and ray flower provided with short and wide yellow ligule.

It is found in moist soil at disturbed sites and in the fern-sedge or grassy zone (Wiggins and Porter 1972).

Distribution: Common species and an important component of the herbaceous vegetation in several places on the islands of Fernandina, Isabela, Floreana, San Cristobal, Santa Cruz and Santiago.
