Altitudinal distribution: submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus)
Note: a cyphelioid species with a grey, areolate thallus and immersed apothecia containing cylindrical asci giving rise to a mazaedium mainly consisting of dark brown, non-septate, spherical ascospores; on siliceous rocks not far from the Mediterranean Sea; only known from the type locality at the base of the Western Alps.
