Berchemia lineata (Supple-jack)

Latin name: Berchemia lineata

English: Supple-jack

Chinese: 鐵包金

Characteristics: A deciduous climber growing to 4 m. It is in flower from July to August, and the seeds ripen in November.

Edible parts: Shoots, fruit.

Suggested uses and recipes: Leafy shoots, as part of Liangcha tea. Fruit (eaten in Taiwan, only eat the fruit when it is black ripe).

Nifty notes: Used in parts of China to treat snakebites.
