Cestrum Elegans commonly known as the Red Cestrum is a pretty evergreen shrub which has long arching branches with mid green ovate leaves soft to touch. In the summer months the Cestrum Elegans will bloom these tubular flowers which are a striking red colour in panicles, followed in autumn by purple fruits.
Can make a good all round garden plant that suits a variety of planting locations, garden types and planting schemes. Often planted in pots and containers where this shrub can add colour to patios, non grassed gardens or a sunny balcony.
Cestrum Elegans care
Plant the Cestrum Elegans in a sunny, partially shaded area of the garden with moist, well drained soil where it will thrive. The Cestrum is an easy to grow garden plant that is generally disease and pest free and requiring minimal pruning. A good choice for beginner and expert gardeners alike. In spring it is advised to prune lightly any dead or damaged branches which mishape the plant to encourage a healthy, bushy growth.
