GOG releases: “Witchaven” and “Witchaven II: Blood Vengeance”

Capstone Software’s classic fantasy FPS games Witchaven and Witchaven II: Blood Vengeance have found a new home on GOG.

Witchaven was originally released in September 1995 and set itself apart from other Doom clones with its dark fantasy setting. On the Island of Char, or rather the volcanic pit, one has to fight one’s way through creatures with sword and sorcery to reach the lair of Witchaven. Casting spells on as well as slashing through evil still looks as much fun as when the game came out in the 90ies.

Witchaven II: Blood was originally released in May 1996 and takes place right after the end of the first game by throwing the player back into his homeland. But time for celebration is over, as the witch Circa-Argoth has captured the countrymen as revenge for her dead sister. Of course what follows is medieval swordfighting and spellcasting in good old-fashioned FPS manner.

Both games can now be bought separately or together in the Witchaven I+II Bundle which is available DRM-free on GOG with 20% launch discounts that last until June 28, 2021, at 1 PM UTC.
