Ledbury was the birthplace of the poet John Masefield who is best known for the children’s novels; The Midnight Folk and The Box of Delights, and the poems The Everlasting Mercy and “Sea-Fever”. It was the home of Elizabeth Barrett Browning and is associated with the Dymock Poets (who were Lascelles Abercrombie, Rupert Brooke, John Drinkwater, Robert Frost, Wilfrid Gibson and Edward Thomas).
