Unholy Trinity

UNITED KINGDOM – London, Trinity Square // Skyfall (2012)

That place means trouble: For M in the movie, and for you, when you beam yourself back in time at the gruesome London Tower!

Why Bond was here
M (Dame Judi Dench) gets called into a hearing – the government questions her abilities to lead the MI6 and the existence of the secret service in general. At the same time, James Bond (Daniel Craig) has to stop villain Silva (Javier Bardem), who tries to get to the court and blow it up with all the agents and government clerks in it.

How you gonna get there
The hearing is supposed to be in Whitehall, but the outdoor appearance of the court had been filmed at Trinity Square in eastern London. The entry hall is not a government building, but the Four Seasons at 10 Trinity Square. “Tower Hill” is the closest tube station, with “Circle Line” and “District Line” operating. Numerous bus lines also stop at “Tower of London” on Tower Hill and Byward Street. They connect the area with both City of London and Whitehall.

Good to know
Well, you can have a dinner at the Four Seasons – or you can cross the street and visit the majestic London Tower. The old castle is cramped with history, hair-raisers and excitement. Make sure to come early and safe your ticket, as the Tower gets filled up with tourists around noon.

We spend a whole morning at Tower Hill, first for a small breakfast around Trinity Square and then inside the Tower. We wandered around, the ravens croaked and let us feel like in medieval times. The highlight were the crown jewels – who are on display inside the thick walls.
