  • Key identification features : A tall palm. Stem stout, clothed and appearing tessellated by the small spirally arranged leaf sheaths; a few basal leaflets forming spines up to 9 cm long. Fruiting spadix about 60 cm long. Fruit is oblong-ellipsoid, brown.
