  • Comments / notes : Paper is made out of the inner fibrous bark
  • Key identification features : A much-branched erect evergreen shrub with smooth grey bark, with dull green narrow-lanceolate to oblanceolate leathery leaves, and with scented white or greenish-white flowers borne in terminal clusters with persistent hairy bracts. Flowers with tube 10-13 mm long, very downy outside, and 4 acute spreading lobes c. 8 mm long. Leaves 5-12 cm, hairless, with veins impressed above, stalk short and grooved.
