Perfect Blue // 1997 film

Perfect Blue is a 1997 Japanese animated psychological thriller film directed by Satoshi Kon and written by Sadayuki Murai. It is based on the novel Perfect Blue: Complete Metamorphosis by Yoshikazu Takeuchi.

I knew this movie because of a Filipino YouTube vlogger named PaoLul. The vlogger suggested this movie because he finds it interesting and realistic because of the increasing fandom on artists.

When I started watching the movie, the only thing I knew was there’s an idol group which one of the singers, Mima, decided to leave the group and starts an acting career. As I continued watching, a die-hard fan is now included on the scene and he have some hard feelings on Mima leaving the group. Now, I won’t really say what happened on the movie but I just to share that there are some scenes where Mima is confused (i don’t really know the proper word) with the reality and fantasy (thoughts). She just woke up and think if that really happened or just a dream. Her way up to the success of her acting career was never easy.

I didn’t thought the movie would end as it was which I really liked. The transition from one scene to another was also excellent. I love this song from the soundtrack album: Cherish These Memories.

I’d give this movie 9/10. 🙂
