On Sunday we were called out to stake up a Hakea laurina that had fallen over in the high winds on Saturday afternoon in one of our gardens, we don’t usually work on a Sunday but this was an emergency for one of our favourite plants!
We had to cut off several branches of flowers to take the strain off the roots when we tied it back up
gardeners perquisite
Michele and Justine kept a stem and caught this beautiful detail
and there was plenty for Dotti and Renate’s birthdays!

What a beautiful shrub? Tree? Not sure but gorgeous!
(((René))) it’s a small tree large shrub native to Western Australia which grows well here in Sydney in full sun with free draining sandy soil
😍 unbelievably beautiful .. thank you for sharing these amazing pictures 😍
(((Tina))) the wonder of Mother Nature!
Such a fine shrub!
(((Michelle))) it can grow to 5 metres in an optimum position!
Good save. I’ve never seen them up here;suspect the humidity would finish them off!
(((Di))) definitely not a tropical plant, it does well here in Sydney given a very free draining sandy soil and full sun position, this is the second time it has fallen over after heavy rain combined with high winds, the first time was about a year ago, will see how it has coped in a couple of weeks when we get back there to do the regular garden maintenance.
a literal windfall!!
