  • Conifer, evergreen tree, slow growing, 30-50 ft (9-15 m) tall, 20-35 ft (6-11 m) wide, rounded form, often low branched and multistemmed.  Bark very showy, exfoliate in thin patches (white, gray, green, brown); bark color begins when the trunk reaches about 10 cm diameter.  Leaves (needles) 3 per bundle, 5-10 cm long, 2 mm wide, stiff, sharp pointed, sparsely distributed on twigs, medium to dark green.  Cones, yellowing brown, 5-6 cm long, 4-5 cm thick.
  • Sun, well-drained soil, drought tolerant when established.
  • Hardy to USDA Zone 4         Native to central and northern China
  • bungeana: after Alexander von Bunge (1803-90), who collected the type specimen of Lacebark Pine (Coombes, 1985).
