Description

Halimium calycinum is a species of flowering plant in the Cistaceae family. It is also known as the Rockrose. It is a evergreen perennial shrub with a height and width of about 50-60 cm. It has grey-green leaves and produces bright yellow flowers in late spring to early summer. The flowers have a distinctive orange center and are about 2cm in diameter. It prefers well-drained soils, and full sun to partial shade. It is hardy to around -5°C. It can be propagated by semi-hardwood cuttings in summer. It’s drought tolerant once established and can be used as a ground cover, in rock gardens, in mixed borders, or as a specimen plant. It is suitable for UK climates and it’s also considered a low maintenance plant.
