Description : 1 Player side scrolling shooter.
Pilot Hikaru's Strike Valkyrie though wave after wave after wave after wave...(there are only 2 stages in the game and they repeat forever!)
1st stage is a space fight against Glaugs, Regults, and Queadluun Raus. At the end of this stage you enter a large Zentradi ship.
2nd stage is flying inside the ship and blowing up the main power generator.
3 modes available-Fighter, Gerwalk, and Battroid.

Description : This is a side-scrolling (horizontal) shoot-em-up cartridge game for the Nintendo Super Famicom (known as SNES in US Europe). Players can choose between 3 different Valkyries piloted by either Hikaru, Max or Milia. Each Valkyrie can be freely transformed at any time in the game. Transforming your Valkyrie gives you different attacks in each mode. Power-ups and shield recharges are available throughout the game. An interesting feature of the game is that if you do not press the fire button for a few seconds, your VF will be surrounded in a greenish-yellow fireball. When this happens, you can touch an enemy and that they will then fight on your side. Perhaps, an early application of Sound Energy?

Description : Demo disc that came with Flash game magazine in Japan. On it there is a DYRL demo of stage 1. The ending boss for the demo has legs and jumps around shooting you like a giant Glaug. (The final release stage 1 boss does not attack you in this manner, or have legs!)

Ever want to be Hikaru in the DYRL movie? In this game you are! You actually play through the DYRL movie, from beginning to end. Of course the last level you get to fight while Mari Iijima's (Minmay) sings Ai-Oboete Imasuka to motivate you piloting! Intermissions are straight from the film, in Truemotion video. Quality is exceptional!
Special opening animation was created just for this game.
If you beat the game on hard level, a little Minmay doll dances on the screen while the credits roll!
Highly recommend this game, it's the reason I got a Saturn!

This game was highly anticipated as being the ultimate Macross game, but unfortunately fell short. Game pop-up (objects appearing out of nowhere) hampered this game significantly. The basic premise though was enough to keep most gamers glued to the screen. Choose from VF-1, VF-4, VF-11, VF-17, VF-19, and VF-22 fighters.
This ability to choose from multiple Valkyries is great, and their transformations are wonderful and stay true to the series high action from.
The ending stage is very DYRL-like. The Milky Dolls sing their song just for you!
Special opening animation was created just for this game.
If you are a real ace, you get to play the final level using Max's Super Valkyrie! A bonus for beating all stages is a special 'transformation program', where you can control camera angle, fighter choice, and transformation movements.

Game play is significantly improved over VF-X1. 3 modes of flying-Forward, Target, and Missile are possible. Multiple target missile lock ons, and special weapons add to your arsenal. Simply, this game rocks.

Special opening animation was created just for this game.
The US release was sadly cancelled in April 2000.

Now you can can play Isamu or Guld(and others?) in the first Macross Plus game for the home gaming consoles. A new Kawamori design- 'Neo-Glaug'-also makes its debut. It can transform from 'Fighter' to 'Glaug(I'm not sure of the official form designations yet)'. Still awaiting delivery of the game to me, but Graham was able to get it on release day-see his intital comments in the Box and Manual section. More to come soon.

MW's Collectibility Rating
These are Graham and my personal evaluations of the item's collectibility and availability. By no means should they be considered as 'Officially Researched' data.
You are more than welcome to disagree with them.

EASY : These items are consistently on auction sites or at local anime shops at very good prices
FAIR : These items appear frequently on auction sites or at local anime shops at relatively good prices
DIFFICULT : These items rarely appear on auction sites or at local anime shops at good prices
VERY DIFFICULT : Pop up every few months. Depending on demand can far exceed expected value. Usually hard-core collectors battle it out over weird stuff like this
BEND OVER : When these appear(sometimes frequently like the 1/55 valkyries) on auction sites or at anime shops be prepared to take out a small loan
