Get out your face paints and finish those placards because Brighton Pride is here!

The festival line up is – as always – a good ‘un, featuring Kylie, Clean Bandit, Bjorn Again and Fleur East.

This year’s parade route is a little different from previous years: while it will start at Hove Lawns as usual, it will then go past the Clock Tower and turn right down North Road, after West Street.

What are the reasons for the route change, I hear you cry? We have the answers.

Why is there a new route for Brighton Pride this year?

Brighton Pride is taking a different route this year due to Brighton and Hove City Council’s ongoing landscaping works and creation of a new road layout around Victoria Gardens.

It is hoped the works, which are part of a larger scheme, will improve the main route into the city.

This means the route past Royal Pavilion is currently unavailable, so the parade has been diverted to accommodate.

It is expected the parade will revert back to the original route once the works are completed, although it’s not yet clear when this may be.

What time does Brighton Pride start?

The parade will start at 11am today (Saturday 3 August), at Hove Lawns on Hove Seafront.

The Pride in the Park performances – taking place in Preston Park – will begin at 1:15pm, opening with singer Alice Chater.

Kylie will close the party at 8:45pm, before a fireworks display.

The celebrations will continue into Sunday, with LoveBN1Fest, which will feature headliners Jessie J and Grace Jones.

Performances will kick off at 1:30pm.

The parade is free to attend, but the festival events are ticketed.
