From exquisite gardens to a reflecting pool, and a stunning Japanese Garden, you’ll be enthralled with all that Cranbrook House and Gardens’ 40 acres of formal, woodland, and naturalistic gardens have to offer. The manicured gardens provide the perfect backdrop to the Cranbrook House, a National Historic Landmark and the oldest manor home in Metro-Detroit.
Admission for self-guided tours of the gardens is free from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily through October. Paid admission is required for tours of Cranbrook House and special events.
The Cranbrook House honors Cranbrook’s founders, George Booth and his wife Ellen Scripps Booth. The gardens, artwork, and first-floor appointments are preserved as a testament to the Booths’ lifestyle, their interest in landscape gardening and their involvement in the American Arts and Crafts Movement.
Head upstairs and you’ll find executive offices that house the Cranbrook Educational Community as well as the internationally renowned cultural center that the Booths created on the grounds.
Cranbrook House and Gardens offer a free app and audio tour to help you explore as well. The app download and information for the audio tour are available on their website.
