Loyd Barney Price was born March 29, 1918 in Keifer, Oklahoma to Byron Calloway Price and Cora Victoria Price. Loyd grew up and attended school in the Bald Hill area and Haskell, OK. He married Ruby Pearl Winstead from Mount Judea, Arkansas on Sept. 9, 1941, and after the birth of the first of three girls, Shirley Mae in Dec. 1942, they moved to California, where he and Ruby worked in the Shipyards. In 1943 Loyd went into the military and served as a machine gunner in the 182nd Infantry with the U.S. Army’s Americal Division, in the Northern Solomon and Southern Philippine islands of the South Pacific, ending in Yokohoma, Japan, 1945. After the war, he returned to Haskell where his second daughter Juanita Kay was born in 1947 and settled in Muskogee, Oklahoma where Janice Fay was born in 1949. In 1950 he was hired at the VA Hospital, and retired from VA Nursing Services in 1983. Loyd was a skilled gardener providing the family fresh produce. He and Ruby loved to visit family. Loyd documented all their lives with photos, each notated on the back. As seniors he and Ruby had a love for dancing. He is preceded in death by his wife Ruby Pearl; grandson Shawn Howard; brothers Floyd, Roland, Calvin, Charlie, Roy and Bill Price; sister Lillie Mae Jestice. He is survived by daughters, Shirley & David Webb, Round Rock, TX, Juanita Kay & Donnie Howard, Broken Arrow, OK, Janice & Danny Yount of Muskogee; brothers, Royal Price, Muskogee, Lee Roy Price, Owasso, OK, Troy Price, Siloam Springs, AR; sister, Karen Hillhouse of Sand Springs, OK; grandchildren, Randy & Jason Waller, Kel Carlile, Louis Webb, Daniel Yount, Sarah Baber, Michael Howard, Laura Parker, and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 29 at 2:00 pm at the Dowdy Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tom Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in the Haskell Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday the 28th at 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
