Plants annual or perennial herbs, subshrubs, or shrubs, covered with stellate hairs. Inflorescences open to dense cymes or solitary flowers. Sepals subequal or the outer shorter; corollas funnel-shaped, purple, mauve, or white with purple centers; ovaries 2 celled, with 2 ovules each; stigmas capitate or oblong. Capsules dehiscing by 4 valves; seeds 4, hairy.
Astripomoea is a genus of 12 species, all of which are native to Africa. Five species grow in Somaliland and Somalia.
