Rosa gigantea x longicuspis

Collected from R. gigantea in Yunnan by Martyn Rix. This exceptional rose has typical sumptuous R. gigantea flowers, being large, softest yellow in bud, opening cream then white with a beautiful form and up to 14cm across! Other parts lean more toward R. longicuspis, which brings hardiness; leaves being smaller, stiffer and distinctly pewtered, especially when young, with the stems a deep-red. A strong growing hardy climber flowering prolifically on a warm sunny wall here. An improvement on pure R. gigantea with greater hardiness and much better foliage and stem colour.
