Cultural notes: A hardy plant adaptable to a wide range of soils and climates. Prefers a sunny position with good drainage. Fast-growing but relatively short-lived.
Maintenance: Has the potential to become invasive when grown outside its natural range.
Tolerates: Frost and drought tolerant.
Flowering season: Late winter and spring.
Flower colour: Produces large sprays of pale lemon to golden yellow ball-shaped flowers. The fruit is light brown pods.
Foliage colour: Bipinnate leaves made up of many tiny leaflets are blue-grey and covered in fine hairs giving the tree a silvery appearance.

Recommended uses: A useful species for disturbed sites as it is fast growing and improves the soil by fixing nitrogen. Good for windbreaks in large areas.
Description: Variable in Height: from a large shrub to a medium sized tree reaching 30m. However, in a garden situation it will rarely grow taller than 8-9m. Bipinnate foliage is blue-grey and covered in fine hairs which give the tree a silvery appearance.
