2. Capnodium:
Capnodium is a genus of sooty moulds in the family Capnodiaceae.
It was circumscribed in 1849 by french mycologist
Camille Montagne with Capnodium salicinum as the
type species.
4. Scientific Classification:
Kingdom : Fungi
Division : Ascomycota
Class : Dothideomycetes
Order : Capnodiales
Family : Capnodiaceae
Genus : Capnodium
5. SYMPTOMS:
Black encrustation is formed on leaves, flowers, stem and fruit.
Mycelium is superficial and lives on the sugary secretion of the
plant hoppers.
Photosynthetic ability is reduced which results in reduced fruit set
and fruit fall.
6. SYMPTOMS (Capnodium citri)
Fruit - Honeydew or sooty mould.
Fruit - reduced size.
Growing point - Honeydew or sooty mould.
Inflorescence - Honeydew or sooty mould.
Leaves - Honeydew or sooty mould.
14. Stemphylium solani:
Stemphylium solani is a plant pathogen fungus in the phylum
Ascomycota.
It causes grey leaf spot in tomatoes and leaf blight in Alliums and
Cotton.
Symptoms include white spots on leaves and stems that progress to
sunken red or purple lesions and finally leaf necrosis.
