Stokesia laevis 'Honeysong Purple'
Pot Size: 5.25 Inch Square Pot
Stunning 4" blue flowers stand out against the lance-shaped green leaves. They have an excellent extended bloom time. Flowers are fluffy and similar to cornflowers, and are very attractive to yellow swallowtail butterflies! The leaves are in rosettes along the stem and will remain evergreen throughout the winter in warmer climates. They are deer and rabbit resistant and stand up well to heat and drought, once established. Adds vibrant color to the landscape. Named for Jonathan Stokes, an English physician, and botanist. Native to the Southeast U.S.
Uses: Borders, Containers, Cottage Gardens, Flower Beds, Landscapes, Mass Planting, Naturalizing
Nature Attraction: Bees, Butterflies

Homeowner Growing Tips: Grow in full sun, in fertile, acidic, moist, well-drained soil. Amend with compost before planting. Avoid heavy soils and excessive winter moisture. Deadhead to promote continued flower production. Mulch for the winter in Zone 5. Divide in spring, if desired.
Arrived as promised. I am in a garden club with 90 members. Trying to establish a native plant group. Will show your plants at meeting Wednesday
This lovely plant is a stunning contrast to more 'outspoken' stars in my perennial bed.
Excellent
Performed well, first year.
This is a beautiful aster. I planted it last spring and it produced a huge number of blooms. A beautiful companion plant to my apricot-colored roses. Unfortunately the deer ate a lot of the flowers, but not the plant itself. Spraying the blooms with hot pepper spray deterred the deer somewhat, but I was disappointed they ate so many of the flowers because asters are supposed to be deer-resistant.
