Trees on the Wilcox (Douglas Family Preserve)

This oak tree, on Jesusita trail, was badly burned by the Jesusita fire. For the latter half of 2009 it appeared dead, a blackened trunk, but less than a year after the fire it was putting out shoots — not from the base, as most other trees/shrubs did — but from the branches themselves.
