This 25-year-old actor got into show business by luck. At the age of 15, he won the first YM (Young and Modern) Magazine Modern Man Contest in 1991. After that moment, his life would take off. At first, he started with small commercials. But by the age of 18, Whitworth packed up his things, and moved to Los Angeles, CA. In 1994, when he was 19, he got his first real acting gig. He was playing PK Strickler on the hit series Party of Five. From there, he shot his first movie Bye, Bye Love. He did a couple more movies until he reached Empire Records. This was one of his big breaks. It was for 2 years, that Whitworth decided to give up on acting. Hollywood stated that he wouldn't learn from the movies he made. But Whitworth made a great comeback in The Rainmaker, in which he recieved critcal acclaim.

Johnny Whitworth was named after his father. He also has a brother named Danny. His parents got divorced at a young age. His father remarried and he now has 3 step brothers. If you look close enough, he has a scar on his upper lip, from when he was attacked by a great dane at the age of 3. Some of his favorite bands include: Guns 'N Roses, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, and The Black Crows. Whitworth also used to be in a band called Tantrum. His favorite actors/actresses are: Robert DeNiro, Jack Nicholson, James Dean, and Marilyn Monroe. Whitworth said that he would only do movies where he could learn something, or feel inspired. He turned down parts in Scream and The Craft. In the movie, Hell's Kitchen, Whitworth did a nude scene (at the age of 22). Growing up for him seemed tough. He moved a lot due to his parent's divorce. Whitworth was always back and forth to Dallas, TX (with his dad, and stepmom Millie) and South Carolina (with his mom Diane Shipley). However, he stated that, "I changed schools a lot, but I adjust really easy. I can go anywhere and just click in with what's going on." Johnny Whitworth is an amazing, aspiring actor, who believes in being a leader, not a follower.
