  • Distribution: South India, Sri Lanka and Myanmar
  • Description: Herbs. Leaves broadly ovate, base truncate or cordate. Flowers in terminal simple or panicled, oblong spikes. Flower purple. Fruits ovoid nutlets. seeds orbicular, smooth.

  • Habitat: In rocky areas among grasses and sedges
  • Flowering & Fruiting: September-December

  • Properties & Uses: Stimulant, expectorant and diaphoretic. The juice of fresh leaves are used to treat liver disorders and other allergic reactions. The juice mixed with sugar candy is used in cough and cold. The leaves are also used for the treatment of digestive disorders and dropsy.
