Cedar Rapids RoughRiders forward Will Francis has verbally committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He announced his decision to play for the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s Hockey National Champions on Twitter:

“I am beyond excited and proud to announce my commitment to the University of Minnesota-Duluth!” Francis tweeted. “I want to thank everybody who has helped me along the way!”

Francis was selected by the RoughRiders in the 4th Round of the 2018 USHL Phase II Draft. Last season, he played for Centennial High School (MN) where he totaled 10 goals and 25 assists in 28 games. He is also a former participant of the USHL Combine, part of the USHL Development Series.

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 17th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2018-19. The USHL had a record 45 players selected at the 2018 NHL Draft, more than any junior league in the world, and more than 400 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
